Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application:

Researcher in computational linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and Philology. The appointment is for one year, starting date as soon as possible with the possibility of extension.

Project description: The project Syntactic Parsing for Synthetic Languages, financed by the Swedish Research Council, aims at developing better methods for syntactic parsing of synthetic languages, that is, languages with rich morphology (and often free word order). The methods explored are primarily based on dependency representations in combination with statistical learning. The post-doctoral researcher is expected to carry out research within the project, including development of new parsing methods and empirical evaluation and analysis, and to report research results in scientific publications.

Qualification: To be eligible for the position, the applicant should have a PhD degree or an equivalent degree, not older than five years, in a subject relevant to language technology.

Experience of research on syntactic parsing and/or data-driven methods is an advantage, as well as documented competence in one or more languages with rich morphology.
