Machine translation into sign language
IBM in Great Britain has developed a machine translation prototype for translations between spoken English and British sign language (BSL). The system is called SiSi
(Say It Sign It), and it has been developed by engineers and students at IBM Hursley in a project called The
Extreme Blue. Sign language experts are impressed by the results, but add that it will take a long time before machine translation is part of deaf peoples' everyday life.
